DAY 8 Pensole FN Platform

PENSOLE FN Platform Challenge
Day 8: Tuesday January 28, 2014
Another beautiful morning in Paradise: Las Vegas.
Walking in 5 minutes early to avoid doing push ups isn't how the morning should start since it's technically late. D'Wayne reiterates that being 15 minutes early to an appointment is being on time, which is a viable technique for success. Having been spoiled for the past week with food, I eagerly walk through the door anticipating the feast for the most important meal of the day.
A big thank you to Nacho Daddy for supplying us with a delicious first meal. I'm still in awe at the breakfast taco's with the buttery, flaky tortilla.
Seriously amazing. The food is very comforting and enjoyable. Check them out and give them a try. They are located right in the neighborhood at:
North 4th Street
Las Vegas, NV 89101
702.778.7800
Our daily pow wow with D'Wayne expelling his knowledge of the industry we all envision to be a part of. Sipping on coffee trying to wake up, I wait for the advice for today.

The key to becoming a successful designer is to LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES.

A habit to becoming a bad designers is NOT UNDERSTANDING THAT YOUR DESIGN IS NOT YOURS, BUT THE COMPANY'S.

The recommended book to read is "STEAL LIKE AN ARTIST" - Austin Kleon.

The website to visit is SELECTISM.COM

Finally, the positive leader quote is :As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others" - Bill Gates

I ingest the coffee and the words of wisdom silently to allow the gears in my head to turn.
The work day begins as Steve performs his daily stretching. You'd be amazed how effective this is by seeing some of his work. Creativity at its finest.
The mentor, doing what he does best, giving insight to Eduardo in regards to his "catchy" design that will take you back to easier times.
_ and _ from Stitch Factory dropping us more brain food with lunch courtesy of Rachel's Kitchen. Literally 2 blocks down from Stitch Factory, they are at:
150 Las Vegas Boulevard North
Las Vegas, NV 89101
702.778.8800

Two types of salad that were light and delicious. The dressings were unique to say the least. Such a great mix of flavors.

A whole platter of assorted sandwiches and wraps. My favorite was definitely the chicken wrap. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, stop by and grab the BBQ chicken wrap Thank me later.
Steve in the zone working on his Skechers kids' design. Once those beats are on it's go time. To see Steve's growth throughout this whole process has been incredible. Good guy from the same town as I am.
A Aron intricately sketching his boot design for Merrell. This young man comes up with some raw designs and knows exactly how to get it down on paper. His sketching fundamentals will leave you in awe even though he uses fancy pencils.
D'wayne animatedly shows Jared how to...actually, I'm not sure but I'm certain that it's an important lesson. Clifford in the background going 'off the cliff' and turning up!
Jamie drafting his Skechers Kids' design with his trusty 4H mechanical pencil which is the same lead I use. Never a dull moment when he chimes in with his random knowledge on facts no one should have in their memory bank. You can learn a lot from this guy.
Attempting to work on my sketching skills and putting my ideas down on paper.
Designs laid out to inspire and promote feedback.
Eduardo finishing up some of his concepts that will bring you back to your childhood. Crazy good idea with a large market. Another example of prodigious growth within the last week learning from D.
Chris perfecting the idea behind his Nina heel design. My guy can pull inspiration from anywhere and has helping hand to offer to anyone, which I needed several times throughout the design process. Ambitious family man with extreme focus.
The man behind the Max brand himself. Hilarious without intention, Jared is always willing to help me with my sketching proportions which is a big deal because you can go further in the process without step one.
Sebastian quietly finishing his salamander inspired Merrell design. His creativity brought his idea to life with a stunning prototype.
Working on a Johnston & Murphy design, Jared finishes some of his conceptual sketches to try to find the look he wants. I rarely see him in this form though.
I think this is more like it.
Claudia, Maria, Mary, Cookie working on her intricate and fascinating Skechers design based on a hammock. The idea itself is mind blowing and the way she gets her idea down on paper is even more amazing.
And that's a wrap for day 8 at Pensole x Stitch Factory.
